The different ways to participate in your continuing education
There are four different ways to participate in your individual continuing education programme: module studies, module participation, certificate studies or certificate participation. This allows you to tailor your continuing education to your needs. But which option is best for you? Find out on this page.
Module studies: Study individual modules
Module study is the right choice for you if you want to study a single module or several individual modules and, for example, find out at your leisure whether a degree programme is right for you without having to enrol straight away. For this modular continuing education, select the "module studies" variant in the booking portal when making your selection.
In module studies, you complete your modules with an examination. In doing so, you acquire regular credit points that can be credited to a Bachelor's or Master's degree programme. There is no graduation requirement in the modular study programme - you will receive a certificate of participation and a detailed list of your achievements.
Module participation: Attend modules without examination
If you are primarily interested in the subject content of a particular module, module participation is just right for you. You benefit from qualified university teaching and current research results. As a participant, you concentrate entirely on the content and complete your modules without exams. At the end, you will receive a certificate of participation. If you would like to attend this form of modular further education with us, select the variant "module participation" when you select your module.
Should you decide in the course of your participation to take an examination in order to acquire credit points, you can also register for this at a later date. In this case, an additional examination fee of 90 euros will be due.
Certificate programme: Customise your studies
If you want to take modules worth at least 15 credit points, you can study the certificate programme Professional School Individuale. To do so, you enrol as a student at Leuphana University of Lüneburg, which also makes the various university services available to you. At the end of your studies, you will receive the university certificate "Professional School Individuale".
When selecting your modules, you decide on the extent to which you want to take Professional School Individuale. You can choose a scope of 15 credit points or more and tailor your Professional School Individuale University Certificate to your needs in terms of content and time. The credit points earned in the certificate programme can be credited to a Bachelor's or Master's programme. If you would like to complete the Professional School Individuale Certificate Programme, select the "Certificate Programme" variant in your module selection.
Certificate participation: A short course without examinations
If you are primarily interested in the subject matter of several modules worth at least 15 credit points, but do not wish to take examinations or earn credit points, then certificate participation is the right choice for you. You will not be a registered student, which means you will not have to pay any semester fees. As with a certificate programme, the module price is the lowest compared to all other participation options.
At the end of the programme, you will receive a detailed list of the module contents. If you would like to complete the Professional School Individual Certificate Participation programme, select the ‘Certificate Participation’ option when choosing your modules.
General information: Admission restrictions and waiting list
Please note that you cannot simply book all modules, as some have restricted access. In order to study these modules, you must meet certain requirements and first apply with the relevant supporting documents. Your documents will then be reviewed by an admissions committee. If you are admitted to the desired module, you will receive a code number to book the module(s).
If modules are already fully booked, you have the option of adding your name to a waiting list. However, to use the waiting list function, you must set up a login in the booking portal; the waiting list does not work for guest orders. As soon as a place on a module becomes available, you will be notified automatically.
In addition to the fully customisable university certificate PS Individuale, you can also take other certificate programmes on fixed blocks of topics at Leuphana Professional School. These range from the topics of sustainability & energy to management & entrepreneurship, culture, IT & digitalisation and law.
