Modulstudium

Das Modulstudium schließen Sie mit einer Prüfung ab und erhalten die angegeben Credit Points. Diese können Sie sich auf ein Bachelor- oder Masterstudium anrechnen lassen. Das Modulstudium ist interessant für Sie, wenn Sie nur ein einzelnes Modul buchen möchten. Zum Abschluss erhalten Sie eine Bescheinigung mit einer ausführlichen Aufstellung Ihrer erbrachten Leistungen.

Die Modulteilnahme erfolgt OHNE Prüfung. Sie erhalten keine Credit Points. Credit Points sind dann wichtig, wenn Sie diese für ein Bachelor- oder Masterstudium anrechnen lassen wollen. Sie erhalten zum Abschluss des Moduls eine Teilnahmebescheinigung.

Modulinformationen "Contemporary Challenges of Governance and Human Rights Application"

In this module you will deepen your knowledge on current challenges and developments in the area of human rights and governance. Some of these developments are due to the impact of non-governmental actors, such as companies or international financial institutions, on human rights. You will learn about interconnection between human rights and business, and which governance mechanisms are applied here. In addition, this module tackles challenges and opportunities of governance and human rights in digital age. You will learn how technological advancement could help promote and protect good governance and human rights or be the source of problems and violations.

  • You will learn about global economic governance.
  • You will examine and reflect upon the potentials of corporate social responsibility (CSR).
  • You will learn which role companies can play in human rights protection and how developments in the area of human rights impact businesses.
  • You will get to know the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and actual initiatives for binding regulations in the field of business and human rights.

You will learn:

  • about electronic government and internet governance theories and their relevance in the international sphere;
  • how internet is influencing the concept of nation-state and the ways individual governments deal with sovereignty;
  • about the dilemma of digital divide and the balance between internet access and human rights;
  • how eGovernment technologies promote effective administration and transparency.
