Modulinformationen "Human Rights Reporting and Monitoring Mechanisms"
In this module you will gain an overview of international, regional, and national human rights systems, with a focus on reporting, monitoring, and advocacy mechanisms. You will learn about key United Nations and regional instruments, their functions and effectiveness, and the role of civil society and national human rights institutions in promoting accountability and compliance with human rights norms.

- International Human Rights Monitoring Mechanisms
- Regional Human Rights Mechanisms
- National Institutions, Civil Society, and Human Rights Defenders
- From Monitoring to Advocacy and Integrated Human Rights Strategies
Course structure
- Duration: six weeks plus one exam week (seven weeks in total)
- Structure: five learning phases and one exam phase
- Live sessions: approximately three to four webinars (each approx. 90 minutes). These are the only fixed dates and will be announced before the course starts. Since the course is revised prior to each run, the exact dates cannot be communicated earlier. One hybrid session also takes place during the Campus Week in September, with the option to attend either on campus or online. All live sessions will be recorded and made available on Moodle.
- Assessment: participants work through the course materials and tasks in each phase at their own pace. The course is assessed through a portfolio exam that compiles all phase tasks and is submitted at the end of the course.
Learning Materials: e-lectures, academic readings, lecture presentations, curated podcasts, and selected video content accompany each phase to support both independent and guided learning.
